Mid century

With all of the technology we have, sometimes we forget the best resource we have to go on journeys, learn, spark our imaginations, and so much more, is reading.

Let’s be honest, when it comes to sitting down to read for hours on end, there is no better option than a lounge chair.

Lounge Chairs are soft, supportive and big enough to move around, but small enough to make you feel snug, making them great for reading. They come in all shapes, colors, and textures and can fit in different rooms.

Here are some of our favorite reading chairs:

Eames Lounge Chair

The Eames Lounge Chair

Our favorite had to come first! The Eames Lounge Chair the 20th century’s answer to the 19th century’s club chair. The Eames couple designed it to neutralize pressure on the lower back, and mimic the look of a baseball mitt (leather folds included).

It is undoubtedly the most recognizable piece of high design ever created on American soil. The chair is made today in much the same way it was in decades past, but nowadays you can choose leather colors, wood veneer finishes, and more.

CH25 Lounge Chair

CH25 Lounge Chair

Enjoy reading outdoors? Designed by mid-century modern design genius Hans J. Wegner. This lounge chair is not only comfortable but ideal for reading the latest best-seller on the beach or your deck while spending some time with mother nature.

The Womb Chair

The Womb Chair

The Womb Chair is an ideal lounge chair for reading. This iconic chair by Eero Saarinen is highly praised for the sense of safety that it can convey.

Pair this chair with its ottoman and a good book, and you might even fall asleep on it after hours of reading. The best part? Your back won’t feel the slightest discomfort.

Bacelona Chair

Barcelona Chair

The Barcelona Chair by Mies Van Der Rohe looks nothing like you would expect from a reading chair. But consider reading in the office!

The Barcelona Chair looks professional, elegant, and stylish while you read the latest issue of Entrepreneur or The Wall Street Journal in your office. Though the Barcelona chair is not ideal for curling up while reading, it’s still inviting, especially with an added footrest.

Eames Rocking Chair

Eames Rocking Chair

Who doesn’t love sitting in their favorite rocking chair while reading books or stories? This has even been a nocturnal ritual in many homes and becomes an important family tradition.
As a family, having a special place – your reading chair- to read together helps to build your love for reading. One of our favorites for this is the Eames Rocking Chair since it has great colors to choose from, great lines, and it looks amazing in any space.
